Easy German Christmas Village Craft
One of my favorite things to draw are cityscapes. So this year, I had the idea to draw festive German buildings and turn them into Christmas décor. The best part - it’s an easy DIY that can be done with kids! It took me about 20 minutes to print, cut, and fold by myself.
The printable includes three pages of buildings like a church, a market stand, and several buildings with unique facades. Many of these structures are also featured in my Christmas market paintings I created for Joyfully Said. You can see the originals here.
Step One
You can purchase the German Christmas Village printable here on my website or get it for free when you subscribe to my email list.
Step Two
Find some cardstock paper. You can use whatever you have at home or get metallic paper from Astrobrights at your local grocery store or simply online. You’ll want cardstock so that it is more sturdy.
Step Three
Print it off at home! I test printed these on my home office printer and I thought the quality was just right!
Step Four
Cut out buildings while leaving the space at the bottom. Cut around the buildings in your own style but leave some white space around each structure.
Step Five
Fold between each building by keeping the bottom edge in alignment. Then use your nail to create a hard crease.
Step Six
Adjust fold to an accordion fold so that the pieces can stand by themselves. And Viola! You’re done! You can style it on a mantle, bookshelf, dresser, entry table, wherever you could use some festive and charming decor this Christmas. Enjoy!
